Haruomi Hosono laid down ‘Honey Moon’ for his 1975 LP Tropical Dandy, the former Yellow Magic Orchestra man’s sophomore solo full-length. ‘Honey Moon’ is a lovely tune, a wistful slice of sunset tropicalia that will keep you warm in the cold winter nights. It’s no secret that modern indie’s resident cheeky chap Mac DeMarco is a big fan of Hosono’s oeuvre, so who better for Light In The Attic to pick to cover Hosono’s original? DeMarco proceeds with a light touch on his version, gently updating the instrumentation without losing any of the original’s essence.’
