John Roberts – Fences

2013’s Fences is a complete offering from Roberts and a very thorough illustration of his transition from what was ultimately house music into something far more curious. The album is touched with elements of the east and departs from it’s electronic lineage with tight flourishes of stringed instruments, accidental pluckings and detuned keys. A fun fact that should come as no surprise based on Roberts output is that he also edits a magazine called Travel Almanac. Tastes this broad have got to come from somewhere.
